Effect of a Magnetic Field on Tunneling Conductance in Normal Metal d-Wave Superconductor Interfaces
Through the analytic solutions of the Bogoliubov de Gennes (BdG) equations the effect of a static and homogeneous magnetic field applied parallel to the interface of an NIS (N: Normal metal, S: superconductor and I: Insulator) junction on the differential conductance is calculated. For a dxy symmetry we obtain zero bias conductance peak that can be split by a magnetic field. The shift of the ze...
متن کاملTunneling spectroscopy in the magnetic superconductor
We present new measurements about the tunneling conductance in the borocarbide superconductor TmNi2B2C. The results show a very good agreement with weak coupling BCS theory, without any lifetime broadening parameter, over the whole sample surface. We detect no particular change of the tunneling spectroscopy below 1.5K, when both the antiferromagnetic (AF) phase and the superconducting order coe...
متن کاملOn the Magnetic-Field Dependence of the Longitudinal Ultrasonic Attenuation in a Type-II Superconductor
We propose a simple method by which we can explain the magnetic-field dependence of the longitudinal ultrasonic attenuation in a type-II superconductor. It gives a curve which is in good agreement with experimental data, in paticular, near the lower critical field Hc1. We compare it with conventional methods, which is not in good agreement with the experimental data near Hc1 but near the upper ...
متن کاملSuperconductor-normal junction in a strong magnetic field: the double quantum Hall effect
The integer quantum Hall effect with a superconducting contact is analyzed. It is shown that the conductance plateaus occur at σxy = 2ne /h which is double the usual value. Non-Andreev scattering at the interface and flux penetration into the superconductor are shown to not affect the result. The effect should be observable in InAs quantum wells with Nb a contact. Typeset using REVTEX 1 This pa...
متن کاملParamagnetic Instability at Normal-Metal–Superconductor Interfaces
We study the proximity coherence in a mesoscopic normal-metal film in contact with a superconductor. Accounting for a repulsive interaction between the electrons in the normal metal, we find an enhanced local density of states close to the normal-metal–superconductor interface. The sharp peak in the density is pinned to the Fermi energy and leads to spontaneous paramagnetic interface currents. ...
